The little girls walked through the front door of the second floor apartment and quickly came running back out. They squealed in fear "there's a raccoon in there!"
I laughed so hard, tears rolled down my face.
Earlier that day, with the girls at school, hubby and I adopted 2 adorable little kittens to add to our family. We brought them home and decided to see how the girls would react when they saw them. We expected some ooh-ing and aah-ing, but what we got was screeching and squealing followed by a whole lot of laughing, and a great memory of our first adoption.
It has been almost 10 years since those 2 kittens came home with us, and since we've added 2 dogs, and they have all been an important part of our family. It feels good to know that we helped give these animals a home, but for what we've given them, they've given us double. Even with the messes, the scratches and the chewed shoes, I wouldn't give up the moments we've shared.
This year, Iams Home for the Holidays is on a mission to find loving homes for 1.5 million orphaned pets. If you're thinking about adding to your family visit Iamshome4theholidays.com for information on adoption in your area, and what you can do to help in this mission.
Even if you're not looking to adopt, you can still help Iams provide meals to homeless pets. Visit Iams on Facebook and "LIKE" photos, videos, and posts. For every "LIKE" received, Iams will donate a meal to a homeless animal.
This week only, if you write a post about your own pet adoption experience and link up with this blog hop, Iams will donate 100 bowls of food. So, tell your story, link up and help feed homeless pets. It's a small way to make a big difference.

Thanks for that sweet memory! I'm so glad you shared it! And thanks for supporting pet adoption and Iams Home 4 the Holidays!
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting way to meet the new kitties. Animals sure do bring a lot of joy into a home.
ReplyDeleteIt’s good that you have dogs at home because it will be very helpful to keep raccoons away from your home. Those two little kittens might help, too. It’s so nice of you that you are helping those pets to have a home. Truly, having pets add joy to our homes.
